Word of the day: أجاب (‘ajaaba, to answer)

leave a comment »

The word of the day is أجاب (‘ajaaba), meaning “he answered”.

Examples:

أجابتَ (‘ajaabta): you (m) answered

أجابتِ (‘ajaabti): you (f) answered

Note the similarity to إجابة (‘ijaaba) “an answer”.

The verb for to ask / to question is also similar to the noun (in fact more so than in English):

سؤال (su’aal) is the noun “question”

سأل (sa’ala) is the verb “he asked”
